Mast cells and basophils release histamine when an allergen binds with the IgE (immunoglobulin E) antibodies and gives an allergic response. Allergens are the causative agents, which can produce the allergic response in the body. Examples of allergens include, pollen and dust. Some people also exhibit allergy against some food items.
