Concept explainers
To explain: If the distributive property be the property of multiplication, addition or both.
Answer to Problem 57HP
Distributive property is the property of both multiplication and addition.
Explanation of Solution
Concept used:
Distributive property to be used on any three numbers a , b and c says that :
i.e. when the addition of two number is multiplied by any third number, this third number is distributed, using multiplication, on both numbers to be added,
Calculation:
Using above distributive formula, “ a ” is being multiplied with “ c ” as well as with b also and then both such multiplications are being added to expand the left side expression.
Conclusion: By above expansion it is cleared that distributive property is a property of both multiplication and addition as in it; both operations are used, while simplifying it.
