Given information :

71% are paid by the hour.

Total workers are 100.

Paid by hour are 71.

Not paid by hour are 29.

We have to determine the probability that if two people are selected than exactly one of them shall be paid by the hour.

Probability that first, between the two is paid by hour $=\frac{71}{100}\cdot \frac{29}{100}$

Probability that second, between them is paid by hour $=\frac{71}{100}\cdot \frac{29}{100}$

Therefore probability that exactly one of them is paid by hour is,

P(exactly on is paid by hour) = $\frac{71}{100}\cdot \frac{29}{100}+\frac{71}{100}\cdot \frac{29}{100}=\frac{4118}{10000}$ or 42%
