Interpretation:

The hardness and microstructure for $\text{1050}$ steel of $\text{2 inch}$ diameter and same quenching medium as $\text{4320}$ steel needs to be determined.

Concept Introduction:

Quenching is the heat treatment process in which material undergoes rapid cooling by using cooling media such as water, oil or air in order to obtain material properties. The material properties are hardness, ductility, strength, wear resistance, toughness, fracture, etc. Quenching is especially used to hardened steel by introducing martensite in the material.
