Gene regulation is a process of turning on and off of a gene. Gene regulation ensures the appropriate expression of gene when required and turning of genes that are not required to be expressed.

Operon is a unit of DNA which is a cluster of genes which have a single promoter. They are expressed together or not all expressed.

Mutation is an alteration in the DNA sequence of an organism, which may result in change in expression of the gene. The substance, which leads to the change in the DNA sequences and have aa potential to cause mutation are called mutagens.
