Introduction:

The nucleotides are the building blocks of the nucleic acids, such as DNA or RNA. It is made up of a sugar, nitrogenous base and phosphate group. A DNA strand is made up of a series of nucleotides.

Explanation of Solution

A template is the strand of a DNA, which act as a point of guidance for the formation of new nucleotide sequence. The nucleotides of DNA can bind complementarily to one another. Adenine bind to thymine and cytosine bind to guanine. This complementarity of the DNA molecules can help in the formation of new strand that is complement to the template strand. Hence, the new strand formed in complement of the template.
