Concept Introduction:

Collision theory says that the formation of a particular product takes place when reactants collide in a particular orientation with sufficient energy. Reactants must have the energy to form the complex with the required energy to cross over the energy barrier. The formation of the product takes place only when effective collisions occur between the molecules.
