Calculation:

Calculate the areas of the two bedrooms and closet.

Area of bedroom1:

  $a_1=l_1\times b_1$

Putting the values in this formula

  $=11\times 10$

Multiplying the same

  $=110$ square feet.

Area of bedroom 2:

  $a_2=l_2\times b_2$

Putting the values in this formula

  $=14\times 12$

Multiplying the same

  $=168$ square feet.

Area of closet:

  $a_3=l_3\times b_3$

Putting the values in this formula

  $=6\times 3$

Multiplying the same

  $=18$ square feet.

Difference in the areas of the two bedrooms would be derived by subtracting the areas of the clost and bedroom 1 from that of bedroom 2.

  $=\left(a_2-a_3\right)-a_1$

Putting the values in this expression

  $=\left(168-18\right)-110$

Subtracting the area of the closet form that of bedroom 2

  $=150-110$

Subtracting the area of the bedroom 1 from the result.

  $=40$ square feet.
