A survey of high school students is described in the report “Students on STEM” (changetheequation.org/students-stem, retrieved December 12, 2016). The report states that 14% of those in a sample of students in low-income households (defined as a household income less than $50,000 per year) and 24% of those in a sample of students in higher income households (defined as a household income of $50,000 or more) participated in a science club or group. Suppose that these samples are representative of high school students in the two income groups and that the two sample sizes were both 500. Use a 95% confidence interval to estimate the difference in the proportion participating in a science club for students in the two income groups.
