To explain: Whether the mechanisms of recombination of unlinked genes require crossing-over.
Introduction: Crossing over is the process of exchange of gene segments among non-sister homologous chromatids at prophase I of meiosis. There is an exchange of alleles. Therefore, it generates genetically mosaic chromatids from parental chromosomes. This carries new combination of alleles that create genetic recombination by the exchange of DNA segment.
