Introduction:
Lipids are the macromolecular complexes made up of fatty acids and polyhydroxy alcohols. These molecules can be saturated or unsaturated, depending on the nature of bonding of fatty acids. In case of saturated fatty acids, single covalent bonds are present throughout the hydrocarbon chain. Unsaturated fatty acids, on the other hand, have at least a single double bond in the hydrocarbon chain.
