Introduction:

Ultraviolet is a form of electromagnetic radiation with wavelength from 10 nm to 400 nm, shorter than that of visible light but longer than X-rays.

Using higher frequency carrier waves for communication is an attractive proposition, as it is possible to encode more information. Ultraviolet is not practical for satellite-to-earth communication, however, as it will be blocked in its path by every tree, stray bird, it will be greatly attenuated by oxygen and ozone in the atmosphere.
