It helps people in many areas such as it lets anyone know the exact position where he/she is located on the Earth. Airplane, ships, cars, hikers use this mostly to identify the exact location at that point in time.

Emergency vehicles use this technology to identify the exact location and act upon for any help. It also helps to locate your pets, finding for law enforcement, and so on.
