Concept explainers
The upper unmodulated wave from the illustration of two radio waves broadcast from radio station.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
From the given illustration, the waves are of two radio waves broadcast from radio station. Such waves are usually used in telecommunication. The upper wave is called the unmodulated carrier wave.
The unmodulated carrier wave is a sinusoidal waveform of constant frequency. It does not carry any information or data but to include information or data another wave called input signal has to be imposed on top of the carrier wave. The frequency of the carrier wave is generally higher than the input signal wave.
Conclusion:
Hence, the upper unmodulated wave is the carrier wave.
