Biology is the science of life, which involves the study of living beings and factors affecting them. A living entity is known as an organism. All living organisms have a proper structural and functional organization; hence, they are said to be well organized.
An increase in the mass of a living organism is known as growth and the natural changes that take place throughout the life of an organism are known as development. All living organisms produce offspring similar to them, and this process is called reproduction. A group of organisms, which share the same characteristics and can interbreed are known as species.
Every organism reacts to the changes that are taking place in their environment. The trigger that elicits a response in living things is known as a stimulus, and the changes that occur due to the presence of a stimulus are called response of an organism.
An organism tends to be in a specific physiological organization, which is a normal state for that organism. The process that maintains or opposes the changes to the normal state is known as homeostasis. In case, the organisms find a constant change in the environment, they undergo evolutionary changes.This aids in their better survival in the new environment, and these changes in the organisms are known as adaptations.
