Concept explainers
To explain:
The following events need to categorize as independent and dependent events:
Event A: Getting four on rolling a die
Event B: Getting tails on flipping the coin
Answer to Problem 4E
Two events A and B are dependents events
Explanation of Solution
Given information:
Event A: Getting four on rolling a die
Event B: Getting tails on flipping the coin
The given example is of the randomly rolling a die and tossing a coin and in two diverse turns.
Here, the first event A is the randomly a die is thrown and the outcome of number four is observed. And then need the next event B is to toss a coin and it give outcome of tails.
So, understand that two events A and B are independent events since the happening of the both rolling a die and tossing a coin are being considered in the random experiment.
Here, the occurrence of the four number by rolling a die in the event A is not providing any impact on the showing of tails by tossing of coin in the event B.
