Clostridium botulinum is a gram-positive, rod-shaped bacterium that produces one of the strongest known toxins, called botulinum toxin (BoNT). It grows in environments without oxygen, like soil or improperly preserved foods, and forms tough spores that can survive harsh conditions (Rawson et al., 2023c). Once the conditions improve, like in low-oxygen environments, the spores become active and release the dangerous toxin, leading to botulism, a life-threatening illness that causes muscle paralysis and breathing problems. C. botulinum produces energy through anaerobic respiration, which means it doesn't require oxygen to survive and can be harmed by it. Instead, it uses fermentation to break down sugars and amino acids to generate energy.…
