Expert Solution
Step 1

Polynucleotides are chain of nucleotides which are bonded together by covalent bond. The bond is formed between the phosphate of first nucleotide and the third carbon atom of the other nucleotide.

Step 2

1. Codons express themselves in the form of triplet. Each triplet refers to an amino acids. In a cell-free synthesis, as the nucleotides are repetitive in nature, the maximum three combination which can formed (if all the three nitrogen bases are different) will give rise to three different amino acids.

Thus, depending upon what the triplet is, one to three amino acids can be produced.
