Mr. Santosh Kshirsagar- Dragon Karate Sports Santosh Kshirsagar, age 20 is not waiting to complete his graduation, to apply the theories he has learned in his classes to the real world. In the summer of the year 2016 the soon-to-be third year BCA student at BVDUIMK launched his own karate academy! Life has many ups and downs; many struggles and one need to stand strong to reach success. Santosh as a child never knew what father’s love was; his father never paid any attention towards the family, always drunk and created fights when in his senses. Santosh’s brother Amit was 10 years older than him; his mother struggled hard by stitching clothes to raise her kids and make ends meet. Amit from a very tender age of 13 did part-time jobs to help his mom in earning. Santosh was 4 years old when he lost his father. The family’s struggle in life continued and Amit did a lot of hard work to raise Santosh and give him a good future. He loved him not as a brother but as his son and never made Santosh feel the emptiness of not having a father. After graduation Amit was given a job in his father’s post and gradually all things started falling in place, now they moved to a two-room house made of mud. Santosh had also finished his 12th standard by now, he knew the sacrifice of his mother and brother, and he realized that now he should also join hands in supporting his family. Santosh’s Entrepreneurial Journey When Amit used to go to college, in the ground next to his college there was a karate academy by the name of ‘Dragon Karate Sports’, Santosh was just 6 years old then, impressed by the sport and had joined the classes, later he also started training his juniors in the class, this was in the year 2008 when he was in standard eighth. Santosh secured a black belt when he was in second year BCA. Life took a turn, when his Sir (coach) advised him to start a Karate class in Kolhapur under the banner of their academy ‘Dragon Karate Sports’. His prestart up activities began; location, funding and other infrastructure requirements needed to be assembled and raised. This was not easy, Santosh decided to go to schools and colleges in the nearby area and canvass about his class and also do advertising, by putting small ads in the newspaper. The cost of advertising was also not affordable to Santosh as the paper distributor charged 15 Rs for small ads in 100 newspapers and he had planned for 5000 such ads. Santosh’s classmates were with him on his entire journey, and they all decided to insert the ads themselves in the newspaper so that they could save some money. He also got 10 big advertising flex boards printed. He spent in all Rs 10,000/- which was given to him by his brother Amit. His close friends and his college teacher Prof Gunjan Behl were by his side throughout his initial struggle and were constant sources of inspiration and guidance for him. There was a positive turn in this journey as the phone started ringing and enquiries dropped in. The day of inauguration was dawned, Santosh was awarded the black belt at the inauguration of his training center on July 13th, 2015. Initially there were only 20 students at his training center and the fee structure was Rs 300/- as the registration fees which would be paid to his sir and Rs 200/-per month as the class fee which would be kept by Santosh. His dedication yielded fruit and gradually enrolment increased at the training center. Today Santosh has 3 batches running, two in the morning; 6.00 pm-7.00 pm and 7.00 am to 8.00am and the third in the evening 7.00 pm- 8.00 pm. Now there are in total 60 students getting trained in his Academy. Answer the following; Discuss these five (5) techniques; Brainstorming, Mind mapping, Force-Field Analysis, TRIZ and Rapid Prototyping, which Santosh can use to improve his creative process.
