STEROID HORMONE 

  • They are  basically the organic compounds having four rings of carbon atoms out of which there is three six membered and one five membered ring. So the steroid which act as hormone are steroid hormones. 
  • These hormones are divided into two classes that is CORTICOSTEROIDS ans SEX STEROIDS.
  • These are further classified into five categories which is based on the the type of the receptors they bind to. The classification is as follows;
  • GLUCOCORTICOIDS, MINERALOCORTICOIDS, ANDROGENS, ESTROGENS & PROGESTERONE.
