Chapter 10
Landon begins to notice a change in Hegbert: he appears sad and disconnected. On their way to Jamie’s home, Landon and Jamie discuss God. Landon invites her over to his place for Christmas dinner, and she agrees. Later that night, they hold hands.
The next day, Jamie goes over to Landon’s place for dinner. The dinner is pleasant, and Landon’s mother enjoys Jamie’s company. After dinner, Landon takes Jamie to his garden for a walk. He wants to kiss her but is unable to find the opportune moment. He senses that Jamie is keeping a secret from him, but he does not know what that is.
Landon goes over to Jamie’s place the next day. Since Hegbert is not at home, they sit on the porch. Seeing Jamie in open hair, Landon kisses her. He had not planned it, but he goes ahead with it because Jamie allows him to do so. It is a memory that remains close to her heart.
In this chapter, Jamie and Landon express their love in more intimate ways. They spend Christmas together and exchange their first kiss. Jamie and Landon discuss God and spirituality, and begin to acknowledge the bond they share.
