3 Trends When it comes to the trend levels, I always had an upward trend when it comes to my SAFMEDs data. I feel like the cards were a little hard this time to see how each term applied to examples. With the midterm I did a lot more studying and spending on an actual focus area because I knew where I was having a hard time. I was able to achieve 21/24 for the midterm. But for the final I scored a little lower 19/24, I found the ones I knew from the test were okay. But I should have taken more time to just studying the SAFMEDs I had a hard time with questions that were more out of the scope of just straight term vocabulary. Data Collection When it came to collecting data, I kept a notebook of all the scores for the week and the time I did them. I know for the course they recommended us do it every day but taking extra steps to record always was harder. I usually did my studying late so taking out the laptop to just plot was never convenient for me. Also, my new intervention strategy was to study in different environments so a lot of times I didn’t have my laptop to prevent distractions. When also taking my data, I had to try methods of two different focuses on different days. So, one day I would work with the acquisition deck then on the next day I would focus on the fluency deck. So, when keeping my book, could see what I did the previous date and what I scored. Instead of just having only on the computer and not knowing what I should be focusing for the date. My trends always had an increase with each week even if I had to spend more time on a deck, I was able to visually see what I needed to do next for the day.

4 Component #2 Data Analysis & Interventions Implemented Baseline When it came to the baseline data, all my scores were very low. Which is typical cause all the information is very new. So, I wanted to really work on, improving my understanding of the terms as much as possible. I remember from the last course, the more I understood the terminology the better I was able to make more since of the questions and examples. My goal was also to increase my study time so I could spend more time looking at the information. I know from my previous course I didn’t have consistency of study time and that reflected on my slow increase of my data trend weekly. Interventions & Implementations/ Adjustments When it came to my interventions, I based a lot on what I did last course and my outcomes. I noticed last course I did usually make it to the goal line when it was time to switch the decks. I was just focusing at least on being remotely close to where the goal line was which usually an accel 10-12. This course they had the option of staying longer on a deck which I think was going to be interesting to try because I was nervous of getting behind on studying all three decks. I also, noticed I was not very consistent when it came to studying so that could be also my reasons for my score. I also stayed with keeping my decks all different colors when I made the cards, then focused on definition cards before example cards. Lastly kept the intervention of one focus of either fluency or acquisition decks on the weekdays to not overwhelm myself. So, for this class I wanted to make sure I wanted to keep the goal a hour a day when it came to studying the SAFMED cards. I would spend 45 mins on going through the definition part of the deck the then the last 15 minutes I would complete at least 5 trials then write down the last. I
5 would only increase my study times on the weekends and do them at an earlier time. The weekend collection dates I would always have the highest accel scores. A new intervention, I added this course was study location. I notice I had a hard time staying focus when studying the decks. I now took the time to remove myself from my living space and try new study areas. I am in a new apartment, so it gave fresh airtime and also helped me focus on just the cards. This helped me also, see which parts of the decks I was having a hard time memorizing. I think with these interventions I am getting a better foundation on how to memorize more of the cards. Goals My goal was to have better results weekly in my data, my baseline for a new deck was always and average 4-7 for accel. I wanted to see better end results for the decks when it came to meeting the goal. I also wanted to increase my study time; I think the intervention of going to different study areas helped. I wasn’t avoiding studying as much cause of the new environment I was in. I did have some hard weeks, when it came to studying for the weeks of me moving in and being in a wedding. But I tried to stay as close to the goal line as possible because life is very unpredictable, and my goal is consistency of effort and study time. My data collection was still useful for me because I was able to see what I needed to be studying on each week, and I didn’t have to worry about distractions like my technology. With writing I can still visually see the progress I am making throughout each day, and I was able to leave little notes to myself about the day. Next Steps & Goals
6 Looking at this course outcomes, I noticed when I did understand the area of study I had better results, just looking at the midterm results in general. I think for the next course I want to keep majority of my interventions. I noticed, after the course gave us ideas of different interventions, I was interested in trying other resources to help with studying. I want to try to see if I can either start having a person to help me study or figuring out if I can do a study game which will make studying less of a difficult task. I think the course also allowing us to spend as much time as we need on the cards was helpful to not feeling as pressured. Maybe increasing how much time we had for a trial to 45 seconds could help. I think what also helped when I was doing my trials, I wasn’t focusing on speeding through the cards to get as many correct as possible. With doing that previously, I was having to worry about decreasing my decel scores. So now I study more and really try to get as many correct without skimming and jumping to just to get an easier card I have better results in my data lines. I also, usually focus more on the acquisition deck then fluency, I just want to keep fluency level as consistent as possible since it is a lot of definitions studying. For my next course, I will continue to do majority of my interventions. I don’t see my schedule getting too much different so I feel like my study time can’t really increase. I will also be attending more group study meeting with the BCBA group my job has for us with my job. I think working with multiple BCBAs I will be able to get more practice of the course work. I will also be able to see how to look at the information from different perspectives. I can maybe attempt to study with a coworker since I found one that is close in proximity when it comes to where she is in the program. My main goal will still always stay with the consistency of effort when it comes to understanding and studying the information.
