The graph shows in the middle of the week when data was initially taken, the number of cards known was fairly low, compared towards the close of the week. Towards the end of the week the data shows an increasing trend, doubling the number of cards known. This information is very beneficial, because it shows that I must increase my repetitions and study time for this

The adjustments needed for the next week in order to increase the knowledge of material is to run more trials at least 3 times per day. Week 2: For this week data in SAFMEDS, it showed an increasing trend over the previous week going into the second week. Compared to last week the graph shows that I have doubled the number of cards learned. The progress in the graph is directly related to doubling the time spent reviewing the cards and repetitions made.  Towards the end of the week the data shows an increasing trend, doubling the number of cards known. The correct response shows an upward trend compared to the incorrect responses showing a downward trend. This information is very beneficial, because it shows that I must increase my repetitions and study time for deck 2 to continue to double my progress each day. It is also important to increase the length of time reviewing the next deck, due to the fact that two decks must be memorized. The last trial ran for week 2 was 65 correct items with 20 incorrect items. The adjustments needed for the next week in order to increase the knowledge of material is to run more trials at least 4 times per day for a minute straight. While we increase the number of decks learned each week the amount of time

10 Running head: REFLECTIVE ANALYSIS Data Analysis and Interventions Implemented: Developing my initial course goals at the start of this course was based around my pre- assessment evaluation at the start of this course. Taking the pre-assessment evaluation my knowledge of the terms was fairly low. I was able to respond correctly to a few definitions, but knowledge of specific examples of those terms was low as well. From the first initial week my goal was to become more proficient in the course terminology and increase my SAFMED time. Initially starting the SAFMEDS, my time was fairly low but with some slight adjustments of more repetition’s I was able to tailor my goal. Moving forward into the next weeks of the terminology I also slightly adjusted my goals to increase terminology, as well as put into practice terminology learned throughout the week. Personally, in order to grasp a better understanding of the terms in this course, putting them into practice in my professional workplace enabled me to better grasp the concepts when presented on the midterm. A combination of repetitions of the SAFMEDS, real time application of the terms, and self-assessment all played a role in how I developed my course goals. Comparing my adjustments and goals to week 4 of the midterm was a drastic improvement, with a score of 100%. By adding adjustments and consistency to my schedule I was able to increase my knowledge in the terminology and successfully bring that into the final examination towards the close of the course.
11 Running head: REFLECTIVE ANALYSIS During the intervention phase of collecting data for SAFMEDS, I set aside 3 times throughout my day to go over the terms. The first time was first thing in the morning before starting my day, second was mid-day between my clients and work during lunch, and last repetition was before ending my day towards the evening. Setting a time and alarm on my phone during these times I was able to stay on top of the repetition’s and develop a consistent pattern, compared to the initial recording where I had no set schedule. In order for me to stay on top of reviewing the SAFMEDS, I also placed all SAFMED cards on a key ring for easier access to carry around with me. The key ring enabled me to easily flip through each card quickly and efficiently, while still maintaining the different decks. Each deck was separated out on a different colored key ring to ensure each deck was studied the same number of times, to ensure consistency. Towards mid-week and close of the course, adjustments were made as I had noticed a drop in my knowledge of the decks. This was due to the amount of material being added and recorded in SAFMEDS, as well as getting COVID during these weeks and a family death. Being sick for over two weeks was a constant struggle trying to retain the information during these weeks. In order to fix this issue, I added an additional repetition time during my day to improve retention and knowledge of the decks. I also, had to double up on weeks missed due to the gaps in my graphs. By the end of the weeks, I was doing SAFMED reviews 4 times a day which helped increase time and knowledge in later weeks. As seen in my last weeks of SAFMED review there was an increase compared to the previous week of a decrease when additional decks were added. Partaking and completing the SAFMEDS review and graphing reshaped how I studied prior this course. Prior to taking this course my study techniques were to study and pack everything I could into a day or two prior to taking a test or exam. This technique was not
12 Running head: REFLECTIVE ANALYSIS efficient, nor productive in producing long term results and application of the material. Putting to use the SAFMEDS technique developed a schedule in my routine to consistently study the material and retain information. Graphing my progress, I was able to visually see areas that needed improvement and/or more repetitions. The interventions that took place upon analyzing the data weekly, as stated above, was implementing additional repetitions of each deck. Personally, I had to review the new decks more times than the prior ones. I also imported all the deck questions into a flashcard application on my phone to take when I was on the go places. This app creates quizzes and test with all the flashcards and tracks your progress throughout. It will also record the items that are less known and put more of an emphasis on those particular terms. It was also nice to see the areas that needed adjustments and come up with solutions on how to fix gaps and inconsistencies in the data. This type of technique is beneficial in my professional work as well, because I take data daily with my own clients and have to identify changes in graphs and provides explanations in progress reports of why this change occurred, as well as future solutions. Initially when collecting data, I started plotting on the standard celeration chart my first review of the deck. Upon revisiting this and analyzing the data it tended to show a lower rate of knowledge of the decks. I slightly adjusted the recording of my data to reflect my best score after 3-4 reviews. I believe this was more beneficial in terms of data collection of only recording the best score out of the trials, compared to plotting each score from the initial learning of the decks. When recording data for a new deck I also did not include in my data both decks, I provided a phase change line to represent a new deck. Although, I was reviewing previous decks with new decks, the combination of both decks was not included in my data. Personally, it was more beneficial for me to plot on the graph this way compared to going back and counting all the

13 Running head: REFLECTIVE ANALYSIS decks combined of incorrect/correct items. This approach also showed a much cleaner graph in my opinion. It also provided clear areas in each deck that needed additional review or adjustments when it was separated out, compared to all decks combined I would not clearly be able to see what deck needed more review. Overall, reviewing the data did show an ascending trend using all these approaches and adjustments showing effectiveness of the standard celeration chart. In the initial start of the course, as stated above, my course goals were to become more proficient in the course terminology and increase my SAFMED time, as well as put into practice terminology learned throughout the week. Reflecting back on my work and standard celeration chart, my course goals were met upon the completion of this course. The SAFMEDS and chart provided me with structure in my schedule and the ability to prioritize specific times in the day to review material quickly and efficiently. Although, reality of life unfortunate circumstances did occur causing gaps in my data, these were also beneficial to help identify intervention and adjustments that could take place. It also translates over to our professional workplace, as taking data for clients can also show unexpected changes in their everyday schedule and having the ability to identify those and come up with alternative strategies for the client benefits in report writing for goals. The only additional information from this process that can better assist during the learning/intervention process is finding a way to better incorporate all decks in the data towards the end of the last week. Overall, based upon my baseline, interventions taken, data collection, and goals set I the course has shaped how I will go about with my next course and developing new goals. New goals will be developed by taking into consideration unexpected life changes, and addition of new decks, to implement new interventions. As I close out this course and enter the new one I
14 Running head: REFLECTIVE ANALYSIS have a better understanding of the expectations and how to maneuver my goals for the next. Next course, one of my main goals is to figure out alternative ways in studying the additional decks, as well as creating my own examples and application of each term. The questions asked on the midterm, final, and BCBA exam are scenarios and not definition terms, which I want to put more of an emphasis on to aide my studying. Creating a scenario and example of each term while I’m studying, as well as implementing and identifying them in my workplace I believe will help me for future exams. Initially starting this course, the only thing that was unclear and took some personal trial and error was the SAFMEDS. The videos provided were helpful, but I believe a more in-depth demonstration during the collaborate sessions would be very beneficial for the next class. Overall, I did thoroughly enjoy each collaborate sessions as they did provide a more formal in- person teaching feel. I personally thoroughly enjoyed this intro course, as it gave me a better foundation of my knowledge in the ABA field and has already drastically improved my terminology in report writing in my workplace.
