The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) (20 U.S.C. §§ 1400-1487, Year) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C. § 794, Year) are two important laws that make sure students with disabilities can get a free, appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. In addressing the parent's concerns, I would stress the importance of confidentiality regarding the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP), which guides the education of students with exceptionalities. Recognizing the need for collaboration, I would invite the parent to a meeting involving relevant stakeholders, including the classroom teacher, special education staff, and potentially a behavioral specialist, to discuss and develop strategies tailored to the student's unique needs.
