Report
Social workers are uniquely positioned to bring evidence-based perspectives to the discussion on immigration reform. Because of their legal status, immigrants may be fearful of anyone in a position of authority, thereby making them extremely vulnerable (Jannson, 2020). By identifying vulnerable populations within the immigrant community, social workers can provide resources and research-based interventions to marginalized peoples. Working closely with individuals in the immigrant community can enable social workers to advocate effectively on their behalf. Immigrants have specialized needs. Culturally competent practices should be used to contribute to more effective and sensitive interventions. References Jannson, B. S. (2020).
