2 Self-Reflection This paper outlines the feedback I received on my submission from my instructor on our week one assignment, and what I learned about myself and my understanding about the issues of ethical behavior and multicultural awareness human service professionals face. This is the first class that has really shown examples of realistic client interactions that can come with having a career as a human service professional. This course has also helped me have a deeper understanding of my career goals by demonstrating this, instead of just having the class read from a book about it. Keywords: Ethical Behavior, Multicultural Awareness, Human Service Professionals
3 Self-Reflection I received feedback about a few mistakes I made while attempting to use APA formatting and proper grammar. APA formatting is difficult to someone who has never had to utilize it before attending Indiana Wesleyan University. I'm still working on figuring out how to type it out and structure my paper correctly. Another thing I need to do to ensure that my paper is flawless is to ensure that I have all of the necessary resources to cite my references often throughout the paper to prove my information. “This is an example our instructor has provided for in-text citations,” (Mongiovi, 2021) to better assist our class with learning the proper format. I have learned to better assist me with locating grammar errors is to reread and spell check my work frequently to catch them as I am writing, and also again before submitting my paper. Self-Reflection This class, my instructor, and the learning materials provided have given me a realistically genuine look into the profession of a human service worker that I chose to pursue. The knowledge I obtained has also helped me to reach a deeper understanding and idea of what my duty can be when serving the residents in my community in the future. By gaining what I have learned about human service work and the skills it takes to succeed in this profession, I will be better equipped and able to actually help my clients and do my job properly. I think that unfortunately the children in the world's feelings on a situation are not always taken into consideration or given a thought by adults. The older those children grow the more difficult life will seem for them, from not receiving the attention that is required earlier in life. Many people are not aware that children suffer from stress or sadness too, and they need someone to help them through just as much as adults do. By learning and understanding the interviewer's steps and techniques, I have noticed a few that I thought should have felt more natural. This helped me

4 detect what I need to focus on and perfect, such as eye contact and body language. I had no idea the amount of effort and work that goes into the interviewing process, as well as all of the different methods and strategies. Self-Reflection The textbook material discusses the importance of multiculturalism in the interviewing process and human service work. It explains why it is important and how it can cause problems with clients in the community and society. It also explains how it will take time to understand all the different ethical and cultural differences and standards. The most important details in this text are that many people dislike talking about touchy subjects like religion and sexuality, which is a center thing that is forbidden to talk about in today's world. I have never been the type of person to shove my beliefs or views down someone's throat, but I believe this will not be a problem when working with a client as I can set my differences and beliefs aside and be there for my client. We live in a world today where the way we look at someone feels as if they are being attacked. Therapists, counselors, social workers, and human service professionals are essential in our communities as a listening ear and someone who can help in a world that is biased and judgmental. They can help individuals set aside their feelings, ideas, and differences and remain nonjudgmental. Conclusion In conclusion, this class has given me knowledge and very important details about multicultural and ethical awareness, and why human service workers should treat everyone equally. Lastly, we learned that the importance of understanding the client’s demographics and where they come from develops a need to adapt to the client for them to feel comfortable and understood. This result comes from learning the ability to actively listen to our clients and will
