Describe how choice theory influences criminal behavior. Analyze how victimology could assist in protecting the public. All behavior is based on free will, according to choice theory, which states that each person is ultimately responsible for his or her own emotions and decisions. It also adheres to the basic principles of classical criminology, which state that individuals act according to their own free will and are driven by desires for pleasure and the avoidance of misery. The underlying assumption of this viewpoint is that criminal activity is the product of free will, the product of human decisions. Victimology examines the interactions between victims and offenders, providing insights into crime patterns and victim characteristics (Siegal, 2023). Conversely, victimology is defined as an approach that prioritizes the victim over the offense and works to alleviate their suffering. Actually, victimology is an important part of restorative justice since, in my opinion, confronting crime through healing rather than punishment is the best course of action. Furthermore, stay away from new regions if you want to protect yourself from street crimes or abusers. Maybe bring a cell phone with you. Embrace the flow of people or go in groups if you can. If you're in a crow, don't slither or act hurried. Reference Choice Theory (From Criminology, Seventh Edition, P 112-145, 2000, Larry J. Seigel. Office of Justice Programs.
