1 Riverbend city water correlation Task Force Brooke Chambers Capella University SWK8025: Ldrshp & Mgmt Complex Soc Sys July 23, 2022
2 Riverbend city water correlation Member Choices As the Social Worker addressing the water issue in River Bend, creating this committee is vital to change. Many individuals within the community were qualified to address the problems needed at hand. However, five members stood out above the rest for numerous reasons. The first member who will be asked to join the task force will be Rodney Saunders, 50 Chief Engineer for Dodd County. Mr. Saunders stood out precisely because he is knowledgeable about procedures and practical solutions to the water problem. He has numerous ideas of how to fix the problem once we get to that point in the project. The second member that will be asked to join the task force will be Janice Keller, 35 Brown Trout Bay Emergency Manager. She was chosen for having a voice within the community that people listen to, and her job is working around emergencies, so when push comes to shove, she will not buckle under the pressure. She seems knowledgeable about public speaking and de-escalating situations. The third member of the task force will be Lloyd King, 51, Farmer, active in church outreach ministries. I chose Mr. King as he has been involved in outreach within the community and helping with the distribution of bottled water; he has even set up his groups to help in various ways. The fourth member of this Task Force will be Oscar Galué, 43 Trucha Marrón Resident, Community Organizer. He was chosen due to his strong voice in the community and the residents listening to him. His role in the task force will be advocating for the residents of Trucha Marron, as this will allow the community to feel their voices are being heard. The final member of the task force will be Brianne Twyha, 30 Social Worker, Community Action Agency. She will be vital for the task force's success as she is the town's
3 Riverbend city water correlation Social Worker, so many members are familiar with her. And she specifically will know the right individuals to contact when the time comes for budgeting, permits, or any specific things needed for the project. Interventions Numerous actions need to happen for the success of fresh water to be delivered to the town. On the Micro level, the task force can work on getting needs assessment based on discrepancies in physiological needs. As the task force leader, the approach that will be used is Solution Focused. The problem and issue have already been identified, and now from this approach, the main goal is to focus on the solution and how to fix things (Aslan, 2020). The Micro level will be necessary as this is when we will work with the community on a personal level, this could include some counseling to the residents and doctors as this incident has most likely caused stress and trauma. The next step would be to have a formal meeting with local authorities, including the Health Department and Public Works (mezzo), to address health issues imposed by elevated levels of lead and pollutants and develop a plan with Public Works to replace old water pipes. Communication Plan A communication plan is vital as it helps the team stay organized and adjust in case of unforeseen challenges and obstacles (2016). For this communication plan, the task force members will also be included. Context: Riverbend Water Contamination, making the community sick and unable to drink water from the tap. Neighborhoods must use bottled water at this time. Environmental Scan: The pipes are not useable; they will need to be replaced; this will be expensive for the town. Residents must use bottled water for the unforeseen future.

4 Riverbend city water correlation Stakeholders: Government politicians must be informed of the results and budgeting plans. The community must stay on top of the projects related to the completion timeline and bottled water access. Objectives: Replacement of the pipes (this will be the long-term goal), access to bottled water in each neighborhood, and coverage of medical bills for sick individuals due to the water contamination. Strategy: Firstly, addressing the lack of access to water for families and the ongoing medical bills. The lack of action on replacing the pipes to provide clean water. Audiences: Community members in Riverbend Announcement: Members of Riverbend, we have started a task force to address the water situation in this community. We plan to keep an open line of communication to address concerns and needs. The members of this task force were chosen from within the neighborhoods of Riverbend. Tactics: As a task force, we plan to work with the communities to evaluate the current needs, communicate with the government on a timeline for fixing this issue, and work to raise the needed funds to complete the repairs in various ways. Asking for donations from neighboring towns and market large companies that can donate money to the cause. Strategic Plan How would one define what is included in strategic planning? Well, Bryson (2010) describes it as a “deliberative, disciplined effort to produce fundamental decisions and actions that shape and guide what an organization (or other entity) is (its identity), what it does (its strategies and actions), and why it does it (mandates, mission, goals, and the creation of public value) (Bryson, forthcoming). By this definition, I would encourage the state government to
