Durante Foundation Education Data Your foundation values education and wants to fund an education community grant to enhance graduation rates. You provided information on the education levels of community members 24-35 years old. The sample size was 90. After entering the data into JASP the mean, median, standard deviation, and central tendencies were calculated. It found that the mean (average) number of years of formal education was 12.111. The median of the 90 participants was 12.000. The mode or the number of years of education most common amongst the 90 persons sampled was 12 (or a high school education level). According to Friedman et al., (2018), The most appropriate measure of central tendency to summarize educational attainment is the median. Years of education attained is ordinal data, so, the median tells us what the typical level of education is in a group without the data being skewed by a smaller number of participants with high or low levels of education (Friedman et al., 2018). The standard deviation is 2.854 which tells us that the values are relatively close to the mean. A conclusion that could be reached given the data is that most of the community members have similar levels of education, with few people having higher than a high school education or lower than a high school education. This data tells your foundation that the level of education is evenly distributed which could make justification for the funding you are proposing harder to achieve as some may see the objective as being met. However, your Foundation wants its grant to enhance current graduation rates in the community. Considering the median being 12 and the mean being 12.11 on average community members are seeking no formal education past high school. A portion of the grant could be prioritized for those seeking formal education after high school which could enhance the years spent obtaining formal education and increase graduation rates past high school. The remaining funds could be prioritized to target the portion of the community that did not complete a formal high school education and determine what gaps need to be filled to attract more students to complete their education and increase graduation rates.
