When evaluating a preschool one of the things some parents will look at is academics that are taught to their child. 1- What are the most important things a parent should be looking for when deciding placement in a preschool? 2-  How do parents evaluate skill development with regards to problem solving, make-believe and artistic activities within a preschool?  Explain why these factors may be important for this evaluation? Hello all,             The most essential elements, in my opinion, that a parent should look for when deciding on a preschool placement are the quality of teaching, the classroom environment, the attention devoted to student achievement, and the level or number of student and staff interactions. A well-run preschool may appear to be children playing at first glance, yet even play provides learning for preschoolers. A good teacher will be able to describe the educational value of building buildings out of blocks or making gorgeous colors with water in an ice cube tray to an outsider (Mongeau, 2013). Preschool classrooms should have an open floor design, low shelving, tables and chairs, and a visible restroom. Though it may appear strange, state law requires toilets for children in preschool and day care facilities to be visible to the teacher. They are frequently placed behind a low wall that an adult can easily look over but provides some seclusion from other youngsters. Some parents may shiver at the prospect of their young child being tested, but a strong preschool program will maintain track of individual children's growth. Early childhood educators have access to a number of well-established evaluations of social and emotional development as well as academic readiness. These non-academic evaluations assist parents and teachers in measuring essential developmental attributes such as self-esteem, whether children understand what adults are saying to them, a child's ability to keep trying a new task - such as
rebuilding a fallen-down structure - and fine motor abilities (Mongeau, 2013). Teachers should communicate with students at their level. Preschool teachers serve as substitute parents for very young children, who learn best when they feel loved and connected. Making eye contact allows students to talk with teachers for longer periods of time, so increasing their language talents, and it makes children more comfortable with their teachers, forming a bond that gives children a stable foundation from which to explore. In my opinion, the most effective method for a parent to evaluate their child's progress in problem-solving, imaginative play, and creative tasks is to see them directly in their preschool environment. Parents can witness these skill sets being demonstrated through direct observation in the preschool environment. If the child maintains favorable interpersonal connections with both their peers and the instructor, they are developing essential social aptitudes. When a child participates in imaginative play and creative activities, they are fostering the development of their imagination and creativity. Parents are able to determine whether or not their children's problem-solving abilities are being developed in the preschool setting and whether or not they are being utilized in their day- to-day lives by submitting their children to challenges that need them to find solutions and observing their responses. It is necessary for parents to take on the role of a teacher and encourage their children to participate in educational activities at home in order to assess the growth of their children's skills.
