Review Board (IRB) The IRB Institutional Review Board plays an important role in making sure that ethical conduct in research is being followed. This kind of research involves human subjects, the primary role is for researchers to review and approve certain protocols and to ensure that safeguards are in place for participants. When a person signs up to be a research participant, they should be given an informed consent form to fill out and go over. Details like a confidentiality/privacy form should be given explaining how their privacy is protected. Lastly, benefits and risks should be disclosed. Number eleven’s social worker's disposition states the importance of social workers' ethical duties and responsibilities. The IRB training sets the state of how one should uphold ethical standards in research. With all my training in the medical field and customer service, I would ethically use what I learned by gaining informed consent from participants. Social workers need to realize that people need to be able to understand the procedure what risks they are taking and what the benefits of the research would be. This disposition shows the value of dignity and worth of individuals. For me participants must be informed in everything that they signed, they should be, able to make informed decisions about their healthcare. In addition to that people should know the risks and benefits of research, making sure the well- being of patients is prioritized. Training for IRB is crucial in the development of understanding cultural competence, this training encourages sensitivity to different cultures. As a social worker, you must have a diverse perspective and background. The social worker disposition # 11 aligns with the social work value of keeping the highest standards of competence. 2

Taking the IRB training gave me a little confidence and more knowledge to understand how to conduct research. Understanding the social worker dispositions and taking these trainings makes me realize that we all must uphold the highest ethical standards in this profession. Going through all required training ensures the research process is conducted with integrity, respect for individuals, and showing commitment to promoting social justice and the well-being of people. There are still many little pieces to the puzzle and still a lot for me to learn but with the training and lessons that I am given, I am confident that I will always practice ethically and professionally. All participants should be informed of any kind of research or if there is a service that is provided. 3
