1. What strategies did African Americans adopt in the 1950's to fight segregation and discrimination? Taking legal action was one of the techniques used by African Americans in the 1950s to overcome segregation and discrimination. African Americans also engaged in nonviolent resistance, marches, boycotts, freedom rides, and manifestations in opposition to segregation and discrimination. African Americans techniques used to overcome segregation and discrimination were successful to the point where it got national exposure. Everyone was aware of the techniques used by African Americans in order to combat segregation and discrimination, making it increasingly difficult for people to disregard African Americans' demand for equality. 2. How did Eisenhower use the CIA and covert actions to protect and expand American influence around the world? Eisenhower employed the CIA to execute undercover missions against other governments. The Soviet Union was one of the regimes against whom Eisenhower used the CIA to conduct undercover missions. The CIA was also employed for additional missions such as intelligence collection and military overthrow planning. Eisenhower intended to increase American influence globally while simultaneously defending the power that America had achieved. 3. Please give your personal opinion for extra points. In my opinion, I believe that although it was tough for African Americans to constantly experience segregation and discrimination during the 1950’s, all their efforts to overcome segregation and discrimination were worth it at the end. African Americans did not give up until everyone was aware of their demands to end segregation and discrimination nationwide.
