Provide an initial post with at least a 200-word summary describing the role of the General Education teacher when working with Special Education students in an inclusive classroom. Unlike special ed teachers who receive intensive teacher training on IEPs, it is not discussed at length for general ed teachers. ● What role does the General Education teacher play in creating an Individual Education Plan (IEP)? General ed teachers can often be confused about why they are responsible, when their participation in meetings is necessary, and how they can support the IEP. Most of the time, general ed teachers are not aware of what the IEP process entails. Having a cheat sheet, explanation sheet or instructions that shows the steps of the IEP process can be an easy way to educate the rest of the IEP team and parents as well. Understanding that the IEP is a document is often the first hurdle when it comes to teaching general ed teachers about their role in the IEP process. ● How can the General and Special Education teachers work together in the classroom?
