“Before you begin, go back and read through the directions one more time (No, seriously, actually go do that). Once you have finished, proofread your work to make sure your points are clearly made and there are no spelling/grammatical errors. This will allow you to ensure that you have completely answered all parts of the question as well. This last part is critically important, so take the time to ensure you have answered everything asked for.” “(2) An oversimplified set of beliefs about members of a social group or social stratum is a ____False________________.” These assumptions are typically: true or false? (circle one) “(1) When the reproductive organs of an infant are difficult to assign at birth, the child may be considered _______Intersex_____________.” “(1) A person who lives as a gender which does not match the sex assigned at birth is considered ______Transgender________________.” “(1) _____heterosexism ___________________ refers to the institutionalization of heterosexuality as the only socially legitimate sexual orientation.” “(5) Define ethnicity. There are multiple parts to this definition. You will need to cover and explain the meaning of all the key aspects.” The term ethnicity is a defining category from a social perspective derived from people sharing a form of common culture such as international language, or common specific nationalities, the same religious beliefs, and social practices with the addition to shared linear history. Cultural origins in common nationalities are not the only reasons that ethnic groups exist, ethnic groups are developed due to their show unique social bond through culture and specific historical lineage. Examples of ethnic groups distributed throughout the United states have also been found within other underlying societies that share religious opposition. Before the time of immigration Italians did not consider their culture distinctly different from common interests and shared experiences of various Italian cities. The Italians were more so defined from family roots and backgrounds stemming from similar places of origin. Over the course of time the standard
practice of social and cultural ethnicities allows fluctuation between the groups to develop more or less aggressive social identification. Ethnic identification also grows more abundant when groups face bias or opinionated hostility from perceived hostility of outside groups. Through all that ethnic unity develops at a voluntary rate or it may be induced involuntarily from threatening powerful groups excluding the ethnic minority. “(5) Define race. This is a complex answer with multiple key points that will need to be explained in detail.” Race is often connotated as something afferent through our biology, within that inherited generational ethnicity get typically is understood as something that is acquired or self-proclaimed. Race is based on the factors of geographically and culturally shared opinions. Race is usually individualized for unfair and differential treatment. The biological factors do not play a part in defining racial groups but more of how the treatment of groups has been handled historically. Racial categories are assigned by the pressures of society, logic and science do not apply how the social masses label these groups, this is how the term socially constructed comes into play. Racialization is the condemned process where social categories such as class placement or even nationality happens to demonstrate how society practice characteristics from a racial perspective. “(5) What are the defining characteristics of a minority group? List out and explain their meaning.”
A minority group is defined as any social group sharing common characteristics while being forced to intubate lower statuses through discrimination and racial prejudice these people are often called minorities from dominant groups. the minority group will possess characteristics that are shared but are often regarded as different from the uppers and dominant classes. minority groups suffer discrimination from non-minorities. Membership and status’s are usually forced upon, and Lastly minority group members 10 to feel a strong sense of group unity whereas a consciousness of that team feeling that bond grows stronger through cultural heritage. “(5) What are microaggressions? Define this term by tying in the usage, and definition of, stereotypes. You will need to define two terms and relate them to each other for this response.” Microaggressions are common expressions that implicit small negative or hostile interaction towards other people within groups that have been marginalized. The hostility might not always be intentional but the assumption that everybody feels entitled to decide themselves whether something is a form of a microaggression. Microaggressions tend to convey disapproval or disgust, even notations of disdain through subtle or nonverbal behavior committed usually non consciously. These are assumptions on a small scale that are presented as thoughtless but never actually taken into regard how is the application can apply to a given stereotype. Like asking an ethnic person where they are from originally implies a type of racial assumption while the dictation could have been completely innocent.

“(5) Define the term gender and the meaning of the phrase ‘doing gender’. Answer both parts of this question.” The term gender refers to expectations learned through social pressures of identity and behavior associated with the norm, gender is a concept depicted through social practices of the “system”. Doing gender means to assign cultural stereotypes and having to only focus on that. An example of doing gender would be the toxic masculinity trend where men must be masculine without showing emotion and doing what society considers tough. To do gender means following routine everyday life accomplishments nationally issued stereotypes regarding men and women. “(5) What is the difference between sex and gender? This should take several sentences to explain; simply saying this is this and that is that will not receive credit.” Sex is how you are biologically brought into this world whether it be with male parts or female parts. Sex is usually assigned based off of genetic chromosomes present during birth. Gender is how the person chooses to identify themselves through social interaction, whether that be a person born with male parts choosing to express themselves as a female which would be considered transgender. Sex would be a person being born with women parts identifying as a woman. Gender expectations have led us to believe that a woman must have short hair and wear a dress or like a man needing to be tall or muscular. Sex is whether you have female parts or male parts and then gender is more of how you choose to express and see yourself in society which means that you can be a man attracted to men or you can be a
woman attracted to women. Also, you can be attractive to both. Sex just means that you were born that way, gender means how you feel and how you want to express yourself. (5) “What is the difference between sexual orientation and sexual identity? Define these two terms and explain the difference between them. There are three parts to this question.” Sexual identity is formed around your relationships, from what you are attracted to. To be sexually identified means that you like who you like, somebody who's attracted to men, but they have sexual interaction with a woman then that's their sexual identity. Sexual orientation is who you are “supposed” to be attracted to. If I am a man and I am attracted to women then that would be my sexual orientation. But if I was a male attracted to other males that would be my sexual identity. Sexual orientation is who you are supposed to biologically be attracted to. Sexual identity is who you want to be attracted to.
