1 Dargelyn Balbi 1/10/24 DEP 2002 Assignment 1 The Blue Eyes and Brown Eyes Experiment In 1971, a schoolteacher named Mrs. Jane Elliot conducted an experiment to teach her students about discrimination called the blue eyes and brown eyes experiment. Throughout the week, she taught her students about discrimination by having them split into two groups while she treated them differently for the week. In the documentary she made, During the first couple minutes following the incident, she claimed that she watched her children turn into a bunch of nasties, vicious, discriminatory little third graders. They claimed that it was an uncomfortable and unjust experience. This conducted lesson is considered ethical since it clearly shows how bias can be eradicated and taught in a way that everyone understands. According to the American Psychological Association's (APA) code of conduct, "There is no doubt that psychology has made a valuable contribution to society through the high-quality processes, procedures, and offerings provided by psychologists." Which helped students recognize discrimination. This suggests that Mrs. Jane Elliot made a wise decision by conducting this experiment. Mrs. Jane Elliot's experiment might be made more ethical and acceptable for the code of conduct by involving adults who can experience what the children have gone through. She needs to be more personal with her pupils and her experiment.

2 Making this experiment a program is a fantastic idea since it allows everyone to take part in learning about discrimination against others and how they feel when they are biased. This is a harmless study. This study provides a glimpse into what it feels like to be discriminated against by others due to the color of your eyes. Typically, people meet prejudice based on their skin tone. This has the potential to change how individuals see the effects of prejudice on others. It can cause mental harm to some people, particularly children, if not taught appropriately. "Most of the children had already executed and lived together in harmony before the film began, and they saw the trainer as a professional decision-maker and someone to respect, so they believe that by the end of the session, students will have a clear understanding that biases and other forms of discrimination are mental constructs. Following a split class and studying papers on the evaluation of the experiment. I believe this study is incredibly beneficial and effective in exposing young people's prejudices and what it's like to be discriminated against. This experiment is safe and should be presented in a number of contexts. Mrs. Jane Elliot is an ambitious woman who conducted an experiment with her third-grade students, which resulted in an important study that others may like to do with their children, parents, teachers, and so forth.
