Module 2 Assignment Minseok Choi 1. In the past, there were three major legal restrictions on marriage and family formation for LBGTQIA+ families. 1) Lack of legal recognition and protection: Legal restrictions on marriage have often left LGBTQIA+ couples in situations where their relationships are not legally recognized or protected. This can lead to inconveniences in legal issues related to inheritance, property division, medical decisions, parenting rights, etc. 2) Difficulties of Parenting and Adoption: In the past, it has been difficult for LGBTQIA+ parents to adopt or raise children. Legal restrictions on marriage have brought many challenges and difficulties in the process of family formation, affecting the stability and security of family relationships. 3) Social prejudice and stress: Legal restrictions on marriage have amplified social prejudice and discrimination against LGBTQIA+ couples. This has led to increased emotional stress and strain during the family formation process, which can impact family happiness and stability. 2. - Legalize same-sex marriage: Same-sex marriage has been legalized in many countries. For example, the US Supreme Court decision ‘Olbergefell v. ‘Hollinsworth’ was one of the important events leading to the legalization of same-sex marriage. This decision gave LGBTQIA+ families the right to legally marry and form families. - Strengthening Adoption and Parenting Rights: In some jurisdictions, laws have been enacted to further strengthen and recognize the adoption and parenting rights of LGBTQIA+ parents. This has made the process of family formation more seamless and increased stability within the LGBTQIA+ community. 3. - Legal Inequality: Legal inequality may still exist in some areas. The
response requires greater legal protection and advocacy for human rights. - Social prejudice and discrimination: Social prejudice and discrimination still exist, and in response, education and awareness-raising, especially education that respects diversity, are needed. - Emotional support from family: LGBTQIA+ families can often lack emotional support. In response to this, it is important to expand services and strengthen emotional support systems in the community.
