Research Problem, Purpose, and Framework Research Question(s), Method, & Design Data Collection Tools & Data Sources Data Points Data Analysis Problem : The homeless population in America experiences challenges in exiting their living conditions. Purpose : Identifying the underlying reason for homelessness and giving a lasting solution to the problem. Framework : The research will adopt a multidimensional homelessness assessment considering many aspects like the root cause of homelessness, challenges, experiences, and engagement with key stakeholders like the community, government agencies, churches, and non-government organizations and access to the programs that have been implemented. RQ1: Which situation has led to your present living condition, and which challenges do you experience? Method: Qualitative Design: Survey Research (QN) Online surveys Variables Research variables are phenomena being measured (Fritz & Arthur, 2017). The following are the variables for this research. Situation leading to homelessness- This variable will lead to understanding the root cause of homelessness.
Challenges experienced- Challenges experienced in this case includes the problems and hardships that the homeless population experience on a daily basis. Interview questions. 1. Can you describe the circumstances leading to your present living condition? What happened? 2. Can you share some of the challenges you experience in your present living conditions? Both quantitative and qualitative analysis will be employed. Quantitative data analysis involves working with mathematical analysis tools to understand the data collected (Köhler, 2022). The numerical data that will be collected concerning the income level of the homeless population will be summarized using measures like medians, mean, and standard deviation. Regression analysis will also be key in understanding the relationship between education level and its relation to homelessness. Qualitative analysis will involve the analysis of the responses from the interview by identifying the recurring themes related to homelessness. The responses will be compared between different demographic groups to identify similarities and differences in experiences among the homeless population. RQ2: How do various stakeholders work together to solve the problem of homelessness? Method: Qualitative Design: Survey Research (QN) Online surveys and Questionnaires Variables Stakeholders- This variable will focus on the stakeholders involved in solving the problem of the homeless population. Stakeholders' collaboration- a measure of the level of coordination and collaboration of different stakeholders. Effectiveness of collaboration- Evaluation of the effectiveness of measures undertaken by different stakeholders collaboratively to solve the problem. Interview Questions
1. Can you mention instances when different stakeholders have collaborated to end the problem of harmlessness? What was the outcome? 2. How effectively do different stakeholders undertake the measures to solve homelessness? Qualitative analysis will be employed to address the question of how different stakeholders work together to solve the problem of homelessness. Qualitative analysis allows researchers to dig deep into the responses obtained from the interviewees (Bell, 2022). This approach will involve identifying the recurring themes from the responses from the online surveys. The thematic analysis will be used to deduce the meaning behind the responses of the interviewee. The meaningful themes will give insights into the data. The outcome of this thematic analysis will be a code frame that will capture themes in terms of codes. Based on the number of instances a code is repeated, identifying the common themes will be done. The common themes will give meaningful insights into how various stakeholders work together to solve the problem of homelessness. RQ3: Which programs have been devised to help the homeless population? Method: Qualitative Design: Case Study (QL) Database searches Variables Programs to end homelessness- This variable includes the programs that have already been started to solve homelessness. Effectiveness of the programs- This variable measures the extent of success of the programs. Duration- This variable looks at the length of time the program has been operational. Research Questions Which programs have been started to solve the problem of homelessness? What are the main strategies employed in evaluating the effectiveness of these programs in ending homelessness? The qualitative analysis approach will involve an in-depth examination of different programs that have been devised to help the homeless population. The approach will include insights into effective strategies and challenges faced. Comparative qualitative analysis will compare the success of different programs. This approach will be useful in determining the program's degree of success (Human subjects office, n.d.).
