DISCUSSION 2 Discussion Post "The Problem We All Live with" is an American Life podcast reporting on the issue of school segregation in America. The podcast presents a story on Ruby Bridges, the first African American student in an all-white school in America (Hannah-Jones, 2018). The elementary school was in the Southern United States in 1960 when segregation was rampant. However, what surprises me in the report is the argument that the issue of school segregation still exists in the 21 st century and the most developed and mature democratic nation like the United States. Over five decades after the historic Brown Versus Board of Education decision made by the Supreme Court has meant nothing to this wicked vice that kills the nation's pride. A recent research conducted by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) indicated that segregation still exists (Carrillo & Salhotra, 2022). Research suggests that schools dominated by a large percentage of a single race have created an environment where minorities are oppressed on a racial basis. This podcast examines the problem of school segregation and the problems African-American students go through in White-dominated schools. The podcast on Ruby Bridges' life in an all-white school is a snippet of the many cases of racial discrimination in a country that boasts of valuing equality and the rule of law (Hannah- Jones, 2018). Millions of people suffer from the same vice, and the nation has to wake up to this problem's realities that seem grounded in our nerves and thoughts. In addressing the issue, all levels of the society from mesosystem, exosystem, and microsystem.
