2 Parenting Case Study In today's society, teen pregnancy has become a serious issue requiring effective parenting skills. In most cases, teen pregnancy can be a difficult experience for both the victim and their family, particularly when they are from a lower socioeconomic background. A similar situation occurred with Cathy, a 15-year-old living with her mother. Cathy’s mother is divorced and always works to support her two children. Unfortunately, she lost track of her daughters due to her tight schedule, responsibility, and lack of effective parenting approaches. As a result, Cathy became pregnant at a young age. It has been a tough journey for Cathy as she experiences behavioral issues and exhibits signs of depression, anger, and other negative behaviors. Moreover, Cathy’s situation is reflected both at home and at school. At home, she struggles with communication with her mother and also struggles with their own identity and self-esteem. In addition, Cathy struggles to keep up with her studies at school as she experiences peer bullying due to their pregnancy. Currently, her mother is seeking different ways to help Cathy adjust to the new role of adulthood while ensuring her child receives proper care and attention. The two visited the healthcare facility, and the care providers suggested special programs and support for the victim and her family. The physician said, “The programs include counseling for the victim, parenting classes for the single mother, and mentorship programs to help the teen stay on track with their studies.” Cathy enrolled in the programs, and soon they discovered she had obtained a safe space to discuss her feelings and experiences with the pregnancy. In the same way, the programs enabled the victim with effective parenting approaches would require assisting her in developing coping strategies, building a social support network, providing access to prenatal care services, and educating Cathy about the physical and emotional changes during pregnancy.
