2 What did I learn from the GSS data sets? During the course, I actively engaged with the General Social Survey (GSS) data sets; this provided an eye-opening experience. My learning spanned extracting valuable insights from data–ultimately deepening my understanding of the social justice issues that these statistics represent (Allen, 2020). Through such a pragmatic approach, I could discern real-world implications: inequalities and disparities alongside diverse aspects of social justice were vividly brought to light. What came to mind as I explored the results of the survey respondents? Delving into the survey results, I could not avoid pondering the stark realities these numbers portrayed; they depicted social issues' complexities and underscored their urgent need for address. Its compelling use of data highlighted how crucial advocating for positive change is an invaluable insight. Describe the role emotional intelligence played in my course experience. My course experience emphasized the vital aspect of emotional intelligence: it empowered me to empathize with those affected by social justice issues, individuals and communities alike. This focus allowed a human connection, igniting increased compassion and understanding for those behind statistical data; consequently, I was motivated to address these pervasive issues more effectively. Describe how my experiences in this course could set me up to be an agent of change. Equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge, this course empowers me to become an effective change agent. My newfound statistical literacy allows for critical data analysis, trend identification, and decision-making based on data; these abilities consequently empower advocacy in support of evidence-based policies and initiatives (Wu et al., 2021). This course has

3 heightened my awareness of social justice issues, spurring me to engage in my community actively. Identifying precise areas where I am passionate about instigating change in educational disparities, healthcare access, or racial inequality is now within my capability. Being adept at utilizing emotional intelligence enables me to collaborate effectively and enhance our collective efforts towards finding solutions.
