Hello Class, The population of my current city is approximately 232,000 people. According to “Frisco, TX” (2024), a smaller breakdown by ethnicity includes white (48%), Asian (27%), Hispanic/Latino (14%), other (16%), and Black (9%). So the community is diverse although it encompasses more White and Asian people, although my wife and I are neither, and are both from different ethnic backgrounds. The median age living in Frisco, TX is 38.3 years while majority are adults between the age of 18 and 64. The most positive stat is that at from an education standpoint, 98% have a high school diploma, 38% have a Bachelor’s Degree, and 28% have a Master’s Degree. The explanation of the demographic data implies that the community is relatively prosperous and well-educated. For example, a high school graduation rate of 90%+ implies that the community places a strong importance on education. The demographics of my community imply the high school graduation rate of 92% and the small percentage of college- educated people in the community advocate that there may be a need for programs that provide educational and career opportunities youth and adults that may be at a disadvantage. The racial diversity of the community may also imply a need for programs that foster cultural understanding and shrink possible racial conflicts. I believe that there is room in my community for a social action project that focuses on offering resources and support to populations at risk, such as the homeless and low-income families.
