What does the word “Christian” mean in the university’s name – Colorado Christian University? (Hint: Review the Biblical Perspective
for the week) The word “
Christian” in Colorado Christian University’s name means evangelical or the “Good News.” Evangelists take the Bible seriously and believe Jesus Christ is the Savior and Lord. “
Our academic and student development programs cultivate a deep and enduring faith that affirms the authority of Scripture and embraces Christ as the authentic center of life.” (Mission statement at Colorado Christian University, 2022) This sums up most all of it as truth and grace. 2.
How does this meaning impact your view of your education here at Colorado Christian University
?
This meaning impacts me and my view of education here at Colorado Christian University with great difficulty because I don’t believe the same. I believe the same and would imagine I am evangelical to a degree, but taking the Bible seriously always concerns me. I believe in the Bible;
I read it some, but I also believe that not every word and “His” word is necessarily accurate. People like us wrote the Bible, many of whom came from different backgrounds and geographical locations. The Bible is considered “His Word,” usually presented more literally. I believe some places are completely misunderstood due to the context being used or taken at its
word. Situationally, that can be a great fault. Although I believe in God’s power, when reading the Bible, no matter what verse or story, He can touch you intensely. So, it is not about us but His revelation of His truth and love. I fully believe that the Bible is a tool God preserved to speak
to us through. That cannot be fully accomplished without the Holy Spirit and a deep relationship
with Elohim. Being a part of Colorado Christian University does feel safe, seen, and heard, with great care taken to ensure students succeed, displaying integrity and honor.
