s ⃝ or No ⃝]
2.
Explanation of Key Events and
Scriptures
Demonstrate your comprehension of fundamental truths of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and your ability to use the scriptures to teach them. Be sure to include specific scripture references from the assigned readings.
Scenario: Imagine you have been asked by a family member or friend to share what you believe about the truths and events you studied this week
. Share in your own words several insights as though you are really trying to teach someone. Include at least three references to support the truths you teach (you may reference them, but there is no need to quote them). Share your testimony as you would when teaching someone. Your response will be evaluated by the following criteria:
1.
200–300 words in length (please include your word count at the bottom of the section).
2.
Include at least 3 references.
Response: God is our loving father so He has given us His gospel on this earth and the prophets to be the ones to
guide us on earth and instruct us, human nature has caused people over time to turn away from God and thus fall
into a state of apostasy as referred to in the scripture study guide “When individuals or groups of people turn away
from the principles of the gospel, they are in a state of apostasy”. This happens because people turn away from the
Lord's guidance and His gospel. After the death of the savior, there was a time which was known as the great
apostasy when people because of their hardness of heart were not willing to listen to the Lord or His gospel, the
prophet Amos referred to this time as a time of the unsuccessful search for the word of the womb “And they shall
wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord,
and shall not find it.”(Amos 8:12). In this time of great apostasy, the Lord decided to withdraw His authority from the
land and His prophets, thus leading to the formation of many churches, however, which, as referred to in 1 Nephi 13,
“And the angel said unto me: Behold the formation of a church which is most abominable above all other churches,
which slayeth the saints of God, yea, and tortureth them and bindeth them down, and yoketh them with a yoke of
iron, and bringeth them down into captivity”. These were churches that were not God's church, so their founders
were the Devil. Thanks to this lesson I was able to learn that the time of apostasy was a time that the Lord already
knew would come and that it was something necessary for us to understand the need for there to be a restoration, I
know that when we turn away from the Lord we can fall into apostacy, even though there will be no more times of
apostacy in which the gospel is not on the earth, We can fall into personal apostacy if we are not attentive to the
temptations or tricks that Satan wants to use against us, but if we focus on the Lord and His gospel we can always be
in His way which will lead us to eternal life.
Word Count:404 3. Synthesis: Personal Relevance and Application to the Real World
There are many serious challenges people encounter on a daily basis that are consequences
of living in a fallen world. The readings this week of ‘
The Need for a Restoration
’ as well as the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ have tremendous power to help people find answers, rise above problems, or simply feel God's love and concern for them again.
Each week you will choose an issue (below) and think deeply about how the truths in that week’s Article of Faith can offer hope to those who are experiencing the problem. If you have another issue that particularly interests you, then choose your own:
abortion
abuse/bullying
addiction
depression
divorce
domestic violence
energy/environmental issues
violence
gambling
genocide
homosexuality
international terrorism
materialism
natural disasters
pornography
unemployment
poverty
racial strife/hatred
religious intolerance/persecution
threats to religious liberty
same-sex marriage
suicide
Scenario: Imagine you are speaking to someone who has experienced or has concerns about
the issue you have chosen. What would you share from the doctrine and fundamental truths that you have studied this past week to help that person? Include why you think these truths and doctrine are helpful and what they have meant to you. Be encouraging with the truths you know.
Write a response in at least 300-450 words
and list your word count at the end of your response.
The world problem/issue I chose this week is:
Response: Threats to religious liberty
This type of threat from the carnal and natural being, was also one of the reasons why the Lord allowed the authority
of the priesthood and the prophets and apostles to end after the death of Jesus Christ since it was due to the selfish
thoughts of The people who supposedly belonged to the Lord's chosen people could not allow the Lord Jesus Christ
to change their thoughts or to be at that time to abolish the law of Moses since it was something that they often
took advantage of to fulfill their desires. selfish, after the time of apostasy the Lord was preparing the ground on
earth by allowing religious freedom a long time later even though none was his church, but it was something
necessary so that the restoration of his church could be had, without However, Satan has always tried to put an end
to God's plans, so even though at the time of the restoration there was religious freedom, people from other
organizations felt personally threatened by the church of Jesus Christ trying to do everything possible to put an end
to it, however, as the Lord had promised that a time of famine of God would come and Lu also promised that his
church would not be taken away from the earth again, so today his church continues and this is something for which
the church also supports even though other religions do not have its authority or do not have the fullness of the
gospel. For this reason, it is important to understand that the time of apostasy was a necessary time for the
restoration and that in this way there could also be religious freedom, for that reason, it was that the restoration
occurred in America since it was the country where this was developing. religious freedom, which is very important
today for the church to continue functioning.
