This week I was studying the importance of God's revelation in our lives. Revelation is like when God speaks to us or
shows us things that are important to us.
I read some scriptures that I would like to share with you what I learned:
In Jacob 4:8 he learns that the things of God are known to those who have faith and that they are revealed through
revelation. This means that there is no other way to know the mysteries of God's kingdom unless we trust Him and
seek His guidance.
In D&C 28:1–7 I learned that all of us can receive revelation, whether for ourselves, for our families, or if we have
some special responsibility in the church. Oliver Cowdery understood that Joseph Smith was the prophet charged
with receiving revelation for the Church, but that doesn't mean we can't receive revelation personally.
In 1 Nephi 10:17–19, I learned how Nephi, after hearing his father's words about visions and revelations, desired to
experience the same thing. He sought the power of the Holy Spirit, which is God's gift to those who diligently seek
Him. This teaches us that revelation is not something new but has always been available to those who sincerely seek
God.
To me, revelation is a way for God to show us His love and guide us in our lives. I have experienced God's guidance in
my life through prayer and the scriptures. I firmly believe that when we trust God and seek His direction, He reveals
to us what we need to know to move forward.
Word Count:264 4. Synthesis: Personal Relevance and Application to the Real World
There are many serious challenges people encounter on a daily basis that are consequences
of living in a fallen world. The gospel truths taught in the Articles of Faith have tremendous power to help people find answers, rise above problems, or simply feel God's love and concern for them again.
Each week you will choose an issue (below) and think deeply about how the truths in that week’s Article of Faith can offer hope to those who are experiencing the problem. If you have another issue that particularly interests you, then choose your own:
abortion
abuse/bullying
addiction
depression
divorce
domestic violence
energy/environmental issues
violence
gambling
genocide
homosexuality
international terrorism
materialism
natural disasters
pornography
unemployment
poverty
racial strife/hatred
religious intolerance/persecution
threats to religious liberty
same-sex marriage
suicide
Scenario: Imagine you are speaking to someone who has experienced or has concerns about
the issue you have chosen. What would you share from the doctrine and fundamental truths that you have studied this past week to help that person? Include why you think these truths and doctrine are helpful and what they have meant to you. Be encouraging with the truths you know.
Write a response in at least 300-450 words
and list your word count at the end of your response.
5.
The world problem/issue I chose this week is:
Poverty
Response: When it comes to confronting poverty, it's important to remember that God offers us guidance and
direction through revelation. According to what I learned this week in Jacob 4:8, the things of God are revealed to
those who have faith and seek His guidance. This means that, even amid difficult situations such as poverty, we can
seek God in prayer and trust that He will show us the way forward so that we can progress temporally and spiritually
and get out of this situation in our lives.
In addition, in D&C 28:1–7, I learned that we can all receive revelation, whether for personal or family matters or to
fulfill our responsibilities in the church. This means that, even when we face challenges such as poverty, we can trust
that God will guide us and give us the direction we need to overcome those difficulties since he allows us to receive
answers from both our personal and family life, that is, thanks to this guidance we can help our family or receive
advice from our immediate family to overcome poverty.

In 1 Nephi 10:17–19, we see how Nephi longed to experience God's visions and revelations. This teaches us that,
even amid poverty or any other difficulty, we can seek the power of the Holy Spirit through prayer and diligence. God
is always available to those who sincerely seek Him, and He promises to reveal His mysteries through the Holy Spirit,
so even if we are faced with any situation, we should only have faith and desire to listen to the guidance of the
heavenly Father.
These teachings mean a lot to me because they remind me that amid poverty, we are not alone or abandoned. But
we can trust that God will guide us and give us the strength we need to overcome any difficulty in this life, including
poverty, it is only up to us to be willing to act on what we are told. Now that you are going through a difficult time
due to poverty, I encourage you to seek God in prayer and trust His direction through revelation. Word Count:353
