What is the major purpose of the signs included in the first half of John’s Gospel? The major purpose is to show the reader that Jesus is the Messiah sent from God. 3. What is the major purpose of the “I am” statements? The major purpose of the "I am" statements is to demonstrate Jesus' divinity and to reveal the nature of his relationship with God the Father. The "I am" statements in John's Gospel serve to highlight Jesus' divine nature and his role as the source of salvation for humanity. Chapter 8 1. What is the basic “blueprint” for Acts, and why?
