Civic and Global Engagement/Diversity/Biblical Worldview Reflection Assignment
In this essay, I tackle the topics of Biblical worldview, its impact on believers’ lives, and culture.
I touch on how having a Biblical worldview can affect each area of my life- whether it be in
relationships, education, or just life.
Biblical worldview is when the Bible influences your attitudes and beliefs relating to the
world. Scripture is the authority of a Biblical worldview, giving us a firm foundation to place our
beliefs upon. Students can develop a stronger Biblical worldview while studying at Liberty
University simply by spending more time in God’s word and learning about how to act and live
according to the Lord. To develop a stronger Biblical worldview outside of class during a
student’s college experience, a student must surround themselves with people that will bring
them closer to the Lord, instead of influencing them to sin and fall away from Him. All these
efforts must come from one’s own heart and the want to deepen their relationship with the Lord
and develop a stronger Biblical worldview.
Personally, my purpose in life as a follower of Christ is to share the Gospel with as many
people as I can before I die. My academic goals are learning lots of information, but also to
retaining the information to ensure success. My life goals include always pursuing a relationship
with God, surrounding myself with people who will help me succeed, and working hard to
support my future family. Having a Biblical worldview affects these goals because it reminds me
that I’m doing everything for God’s glory, not for the world’s satisfaction. I can approach my
education differently because my Christian worldview allows me to love and help people through
my future career. Instead of getting a degree for personal gain, I can strive to help others, and
further obey the Lord’s calling on my life.
After watching “Diversity at Liberty University”, I learned a lot. The first being that
culture is simply a way of life. Dr. G provides 3 ways we can work together with people from
different cultures: finding common ground, having common grace, remembering that we are
working for a common good, and striving towards a common goal. Our Biblical worldview
inspires us to fulfill the Great Commission because we realize that there are so many people who
still need to hear the good news of the Gospel. We can effectively engage others by allowing the
Holy Spirit to speak through us and telling unbelievers how they can achieve eternal life one day.
After reading the textbook and watching the videos, I learned that Biblical worldview
influences our everyday lives and gives us an ultimate purpose- spreading the Gospel to the
unbeliever. Diversity and culture allow us to engage with others who are not like us, and we are
challenged to love them regardless.
