What is the purpose of teaching similar principles that already existed in the New Testament
again in the Book of Mormon?

List at least five important truths the Savior taught about the sacrament in 3 Nephi 18:1-14, 28-
32.
a.
The purpose of the sacrament: administered to help us remember Hi, and His atoning
sacrifice as well as a way for us to renew out covenants.
b.
The symbols of the sacrament: Jesus explains how the water is His blood, and the bread
His body.
c.
The Importance of Humility and Repentance: He instructs us to be in a state of
worthiness, free from sin, and with a broken heart and contrite spirit.
d.
Promises and Blessings: Jesus teaches that those who partake of the sacrament worthily
will have his spirit to be with them.
e.
The Role of Priesthood Authority: The Savior designates His disciples as the ones who
should administer the sacrament. He grants them the authority to do so and commands
them to do it in His name.

Compare 3 Ne. 18:7 to Paul's teachings on the sacrament in 1 Corinthians 11:24. In what ways
does Jesus want the Nephites to remember his body differently from what Paul says the bread is
supposed to do?
Jesus, as recorded in the Book of Mormon, highlights the remembrance of His body, while Paul,
in his letter to the Corinthians, adds the aspect of remembering Christ as a whole, including His
sacrifice and who He is. This subtle difference doesn't change the fundamental purpose of the
sacrament but provides some variation in the way it is expressed in these two scriptures.

As you read 3 Nephi 19, which phrase or verse had the most meaning to you? Why?
In 3 Nephi 19:18, it says,
“And behold, they began to pray; and they did pray unto Jesus, calling him their Lord and their
God.”
This verse emphasizes the faith and belief of the people in the presence of the Savior and their
acknowledgment of His divine nature. This recognition of Jesus as both our Lord and their God is
a central theme in the Book of Mormon and a testament to the Savior's divine mission and
identity. It serves as a powerful declaration of their faith and devotion to Him.
