Journal Submission Week 6 – Ethan Cornelius The Condescension, Birth, and Infancy of Jesus, Prompt #1:Briefly write some personalreflections on ways in which Matthew's depiction of Jesus's birth helps you to see Jesusdifferently and how this depiction might have application to your own life. (3-4 sentences) I now have a different perspective on Jesus as a result of Matthew's account of His birth because I have a better understanding of the circumstances surrounding it and the significance of the setting and those involved. It was interesting to read more about His father Joseph's experience and how Matthew places more emphasis on that than Mary's. The fact that there was a controversy over who the true "King of the Jews" was also intriguing. The Condescension, Birth, and Infancy of Jesus, Prompt #2:Briefly write some personalreflections on ways in which Luke's depiction of Jesus's birth helps you to see Jesus differentlyand how this depiction might have application to your own life. (3-4 sentences) I am most familiar with the account of Christ's birth found in the gospel of Luke. Every year as a family, we read it. In this session, I really enjoyed learning about the shepherds. It got me pondering whether or not I considered myself truly humble enough to see the Savior. The Condescension, Birth, and Infancy of Jesus, Prompt #3:Write some personalreflections on ways in which John's depiction of Jesus's condescension helps you to see Jesusdifferently and how this depiction might have application to your own life. (3-4 sentences)I love the idea that Christ was a literal temple for the Lord's Glory to come upon theearth. Through Christ we are truly able to connect with God, the same way we would atemple. This helps me see Him differently in my own life and makes me want to spendmore time allowing Him into my day I enjoy the concept that Christ existed as a temple in which the Lord's glory appeared on earth. We can actually communicate with God via Christ, just as we would in a temple. This changes the way I view Him in my own life and encourages me to spend more time incorporating Him into my day.
