Your response will be evaluated by the following criteria: 1. 200–300 words in length (please include your word count at the bottom of the section). 2. Include at least 3 scripture references . Response: This week I studied doctrine found in the scriptures pertaining to the Godhead and attributes/roles of each of them. JSH 1:14-17 Helped me to understand that the Father and the Son are 2 separate distinct beings but completely united in purpose. Not only that but it helps me to understand that the love they have for us as children is unconditional. As they returned to bring back the truth and kickstart the restoration. Giving us the tools and abilities to return to our them as perfected beings through Jesus Christ. Also, we Learn more about the distinction of
the lord vs the adversary as well. In Moses 1:19-22 it reads about how Satan appeared to Moses after the experience that he had with the lord on the mountaintop. Satan tempted Moses to worship him, thankfully, Moses knew who the lord was through his faith and the glory he had seen just previously. With the knowledge he was able to distinguish between the two, casting Satan out of his presence in the name of the Only Begotten. Similarly, to our own lives we are faced with many temptations and choices that may seem good but may end up taking us away from our Heavenly Father. By having faith and having spiritual experiences we too can have a better chance and distinguishing between the evil and good we are faced with on a daily basis. Overtime being able to see the attributes of the lord in our daily lives as we progress down the covenant path. Lastly in Doctrine & Covenants 76:10 we learn more about the role of the Holy Ghost. While it is to special witnesses who are able to communicate with the Savior most of us don’t see the Savior Physically as well as the Father. The Role of the Holy Ghost is to help us understand eternal truths in their stead while still allowing us to have faith in the Father and the Son. Word Count: 320 4. Synthesis: Personal Relevance and Application to the Real World There are many serious challenges people encounter on a daily basis that are consequences of living in a fallen world. The gospel truths taught in the Articles of Faith have tremendous power to help people find answers, rise above problems, or simply feel God's love and concern for them again. Each week you will choose an issue (below) and think deeply about how the truths in that week’s Article of Faith can offer hope to those who are experiencing the problem. If you have another issue that particularly interests you, then choose your own: abortion abuse/bullying addiction depression divorce domestic violence energy/environmental issues violence gambling genocide homosexuality international terrorism materialism
natural disasters pornography unemployment poverty racial strife/hatred religious intolerance/persecution threats to religious liberty same-sex marriage suicide Scenario: Imagine you are speaking to someone who has experienced or has concerns about the issue you have chosen. What would you share from the doctrine and fundamental truths that you have studied this past week to help that person? Include why you think these truths and doctrine are helpful and what they have meant to you. Be encouraging with the truths you know. Write a response in at least 300-450 words and list your word count at the end of your response. 5. The world problem/issue I chose this week is: Violence Response: Violence is a very broad yet very specific. It takes so many forms yet no matter what form it takes, the pain that it inflicts leaves a lasting imprint that is never forgotten. Violence is something that has plagued mankind since the beginning of time as it stems from contention which is not of God. It also can become a moral grey area as there some who suggest that Violence is necessary for defense of those who want to commit acts of Violence against them. Just as we all walk different paths towards the Savior, he is the best place to turn to as we look for answers about this topic. In Doctrine and Covenants 76:10 The role of the Holy Ghost is to help us find answers to eternal truths given to us by God. Usually, things that the spirit bears witness of will be truth coming from the Lord. Revelation comes to each one of us differently as we have different levels of Understandings in accordance to the Gospel and spiritual matters. That is why I believe the grey area exists because based on situations others have been surrounded by, they are given truths based on their understanding, culture, and even the time period they lived. I believe to find the answer that is pertinent to your understanding and background you must search the scriptures and pray for that answer. Allowing the Spirit to do it’s Job and give you the revelation you are looking for. He works right alongside both the Savior and our Father who love us unconditionally. Also know another attribute of our Father in Heaven is he wants us to use the agency that he has given us to choose righteousness over the evil. Because that choice exists, unfortunately many will choose evil. This leads to many of the horrible acts that we have seen through Human history. All in all, I know That as we seek answers about the questions we have, we will receive the answers that we need to continue along the covenant path and receive the blessings our Father wants to give us.
