1 The Origin of the Judeo Christianity Student Name Institution Course Professor Date
2 Is this interesting to me? Why? I have read several standard textbooks on Christian history, which only offer a basic understanding of the Judeo-Christian traditions. This video goes deep down into the origins of Christianity in the first 1000 years to offer a much more interesting chronology of the Judeo- Christian tradition, how it rose, and how it evolved. I was fascinated to learn more about the call of Simon Peter and how ancient apostleship was funded. People would sell all their belongings and give that money to a common pool managed by the apostles. At first, I found it ridiculous for one to sell "All their belonging." It was a huge devotion and commitment. The money would be used to finance evangelistic missionary trips and other church missionaries (ChristianStrengthTv, 2013, 8:20). This connects to a popular tale in the bible about Ananias and Sapphira, who sold their belongings but then did not bring it all to the church. Indeed this story is captivating, for I learn about different religious beliefs in ancient Christianity and how they have lived to evolve into the modern form of Christianity. I was intrigued to watch more frames of the video and almost all of it! Information from this video connects smoothly with the modern stories of the bible about ancient Christianity. Only slight variations, which I believe arise from the storytellers' perspective. This is amazing to learn that we not only read about the history of ancient Christianity but get the right information. I learned that Judaism and Christianity were two very different religions despite having a common origin route. This is a new understanding I never anticipated and was very insightful, especially on how the two forms of religion are perceived worldwide in the modern day. It's interesting how Judeo-Christianity is still relevant today and how its influence is reflected in the way modern cultures and societies interact with each.
